Comfort seat retrofit problem Hi, I just fitted a set of comfort seat, in replacement of standard (thus manual) heated seats. Everything went smoothly for the passenger seat, both electrical and heating fonctions are working perfectly. Regarding the driver's seat, I have the heating function, but no way to have the motors working ! They do not even emit a sound. Any ideas as where to check ? (Already checked fuses 26 & 32) Thanx in advance! |

No idea how to fix your problem but was wondering where you got the seats and how difficult the installation was. I am really interested in retrofitting the comfort seats as well. Can you post some pictures? |

This is a very difficult problem to troubleshoot. Reason: you need to see what pins are receiving power from the X. Then using a VOM, see if you have power to the plugs. Start there. I'm wondering out loud if you're not getting power since the X didn't come with power seats to begin with. If that's the case, where do you look to enable power to the cabling. |

Hi, Thanx for your replies! Problem is solved for now ! As I said, the passenger seat worked directly perfectly fine, both the electrical settings and the heating were just "plug and play". Concerning the driver's seat, even though the heating fucntion was working, there elctrical settings remained un powered. For know I've just link the main power of the seat to the back cigarette lighter, and everything works well (even the memories!). My guess is that I'm missing a relay somewhere. I will drop the car off to the dealer to see if they can finish off the install. My second concern know is that the bakc row was fitted with heating system, and the main cable from the xar had the plugs. I've connected them, and I wonder of I could properly located the plug for the switches (At a rapid first glance as I plug the elctrical cigarette lighter to the front seat nothing realy stuck out !). I'll post picks soon for those of you that are curious, but all in all, it's quite a straight forward change. I found my seat on Ebay, from a very nice an polite german dealer. It cost me arround 1200 €, and the swap took me a little over 3 hours ! Have a nice week end ! |

I have a 2001 3.0 and will do this if I can ever find the seats. Does anyone know if the wiring is the same in the 2001s? Reason I ask is that comfort seats were not offered in the 2001 3.0. |

Since it's seem that the common belief is that comfort seats cannot be fitted with DVD headrests (except for the invision one's), I've just place a set, and although it's a little more work than on sport to regular seats, it fits perfectly (the heardreast even keep their electrical feature). All I had to do is purchase the proper sized chrome tube, and cut them to the correct mesures |

My wife did that to one of the back seats on my car four years ago and the crease has never come out. If I had to look at that every day it would absolutely drive me crazy. I'm going to keep my eyes out for another set, maybe they'll even be a little less $$ next time. |

 will E38 7 series comfort seat fit a E53? |
|
If it is a 4.8L E53 with 15.8mm post diameter it will fit in, as long as we are still talking headrests. -LAW |

Mrbmwx5 -- Do you have any tricks up your sleeve for dealing with the burning seat problem -- other than turning seat heat off? My driver's seat left bolster gets so hot even on low settings that it burns. Only cure appears to be a seat change or leather R&R, which would cost about $1,000. I was wondering if there's a "fix" somehow by getting to the heating element and undoing the short or whatever is going on in there. TIA |

You need new heating element. |
