left moonroof open.. it rained...interior got wet
 

I left the moonroof open one evening and it so happened to rain that night... both front seats and the center console was wet... in addition to the carpet.. I used a leaf blower to get out all the water from the creases... wiped as much as i could... put on the heated seats and the heat for about 30 minutes...with doors closed

I now have a very damp smell when i open the car for the first time in the morning..

Would this go away in time? Anyone has any other suggestions?:confused:

I left my rear window open during a nighttime rain storm. I'd get as much water out as possible and let the moisture evaporate with windows open. Otherwise, your leather will stay soggy and look warped. And don't sit on it until it's dry or it may stretch out.

The foam padding under the carpet holds water like a chamois sponge... You will need to pull out the seats and get up under the carpet to fully dry it out, and you will see just how much water the padding holds when you get down in it. Good luck!

You did the right thing. But you're going to have to dry that wet stuff out a little more. You need to do it soon otherwise mold will start to form and thats bad. Fortunately it takes a several days for mold. So get home tonite and dry it out thouroughly..

Damp Rid? Or maybe another product that could help? A dehumidifier?

Just this week I pulled about 2 gallons from under the carpet of a vehicle that was otherwise dried out from up top... You need to at least stick a hand under there to feel the padding. You may be ok depending on how much water got in there, but you really need to know or it will end up with really bad mold/mildew smell.

The faster you get ride of the water the safer it is for the material it has effected. You should do it ASAP. Try to leave all the heat on in the car, see if that helps a bit. As far as the smell is concerned, All you need to do is put Line Runner or some Black Ice air fresheners throughout the car. Put one under the rear view mirror, two of the on each side of the back seats where the hand holders are on the top, after a while the scent will go away...
