Seat belt extender for 2nd row

Hello all! I'm new to this forum and new to BMW. I live near Toronto and just recently purchased my first...an '06 4.4. My wife and I both love it but as usual, all of the little annoyances that come with any car are coming to the surface since a week has passed.

I've got 2 kids in booster seats. They've just recently learned to put the seat belt on for themselves...until we bought the x5. Now we're going backwards and having to put it on for them. As you all may know boosters partially cover the receiver. The passenger rear is ok because we can use the center receiver which sticks out. But the driver side is embedded. So what I'm trying to find is a source for a safe extender. Searches have brought up many that look very cheap (my favorite is the one site that states upfront to return the product immediately if you find any defect...umm, not really what you want to hear). If any folks have touched one or can point me in the right direction I would be a happier newb. thanks!

Welcome to the BMW X5 family :)

With a quick google search I was able to find a few solutions for your little dilemma. Here is an Amazon or this link. Both of which should fit the X5. I personally never installed an extender so I cannot help you out 100% with this matter but for those who did please help out a fellow X5er :)

Good luck!

Try Bavauto.com, I think I remember seeing something like that you are looking for.

VW seat belt extenders work great. I picked up a set of on fleabay about 5 years ago for $20.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
I'm trying to stay away from the 'universal' ones because they're indy made and that worries me.
The one at Bavauto for like $200 (not a typo) actually doesn't fit the x5. I called them and the only option is the bolt-on strap that goes on the other end and does really help my situation.
The VW option looks good and hopefully some dealers in the area stock them.
I passed by my local GM dealer today because I read that the Chevy Tahoe is a pretty good fit. Check this out... the parts guy told my the extenders are free for GM owners...wtf??? What is free nowadays? But it's true. He was a cool guy..placed the order. I said I don't own a GM and he responded by saying I just have to state on the form that I have one (this form goes to HQ). They don't trace anything back to the vehicle. Apparently all the dealers do this as protocol. If it doesn't fit... so what it's free! Afterward I went to the pharmacy and found a gift card right by the entrance doors with $25 on it!! What else can go right. I'm going to play the lottery now. :wow:

Picked this one up today at local VW dealer for $12.95 and perfect fit! Thanks to Zulu, and to all for your suggestions.
