Honest guys,
It was gravy. I also remember having a bone as well at that time....................a chicken bone that is :wow:

Thanks for confirmation on rear seat heater plugs. I can understand the 2 small plugs being for heater elements but what is that large multi pin receiver for??

Being where I am on the sunny Gold Coast I don't really have the need for seat heaters either front or back. Shame we can't plug in seat coolers, now that's something that would get a lot of use over here.

Stonatox,
I appreciate what you mean (in your thread) about the need for seat belt extensions.

The seat was also fairly fiddly to refit onto the recievers. It's one of those times when one wishes one was an octopus.

rear seat warmers for the win. all you need now is a seat with the heating element and the buttons to activate

I think all X5s are pre-wired, BUT as I've found out and Astroboy before me, that the wires leading from the rear fuse box to the center console for the heat switches are not in the console. They could be located under the carpet somewhere, but neither of us went through the trouble to rip up the rear carpets to check. It may very well be there, but I've never confirmed it. Not even sure how to remove the carpet without removing any adhesive backing and making it look lumpy when put back together.

I've looked into retrofitting seat warmers too. In looking at the wiring diagram, I believe the small 2-prong plug goes to the seat back warmer element, while the multiplug does the seat bottoms and leads to the switches in the console.

Wiring diagram- ??? Where are you experienced members getting the wiring guides from? I would love to have the wiring guide for the seat heaters so i can plan it out for a retro fit. I have those same plugs in my x5 .

WDS BMW Wiring Diagram System - English

Read my comments above about the wiring for switches above. They seem to exist as shown in the wiring diagram, but not sure if they are under the carpet or not. The rear fuse box does have wires coming out of the relay plugs that handle the rear heat switches.

That harness is if you wanna add extra Foomph to the backseat of your X5 when you're w/ the ladies. :)
