CD changer trouble...need help please

Hello everyone... Im new to this site so I just wanted to introduce myself. Im in MA and have a '06 X5 4.8 and just finished a DICE ipod install and a BSW subwoofer install (from bavsound.com) works great b.t.w. I was having problems with the DICE unit so I sent it back to get a replacement and in the meantime reconnected the cd changer. Every once and a while the changer will just stop playing for a few seconds and go back to playing. It was doing this with the DICE unit and I thought that it was the culprit and returned it,... I set my system back up like factory specs and still having the problem. I never had the chance to play my changer long enough when I first the SAV a few months ago to know if the problem is with my 1.Dice install or 2. Subwoofer or 3. Factory problem with radio or cd changer. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I always had problems with my CD player in the X5 and have had continuous problems with my Dice system. The CDs would get stuck half way in and I would have to unplug the CD player and start over. As far as the Dice system, I have to continously reset the iPod and then disconnect the Dice unit over night and it will start displaying the text again. Lately it hasn't wanted to display even after that. Sometimes when I put it on CD6 and Track 6 it doesn't even display the software information that it normally should. I hope you have better luck.

I do have an Alpine system in my M3 that has a direct hook up for the iPod in the glove box and have never had a display problem and it is easy to use. I would get one of these for the X5 but I love having my Nav display. May eventually try and find something else that will fit in that spot.

Wife is having the same issue but I notice it happens occasionally when she taps on the brakes or accelerator, so I'm thinking its wire grounding out somewhere.

It is probably just a coincidence. It sounds like your CD Changer is on the way out. Unfortunately they were never a very 'stout' piece from BMW.
