Oil light reset ?

I looked around the forum to find out how to reset the oil lights on an 04 4.8is and i can't find anything. I looked under the hood and couldn't find the plug with the 7 and 19 pins in it. does anyone know how to do this or do I need the reset tool?
thanks R.C.

Look under "How To's" at the top of the page.

what do you mean by oil light , is that the service light or does the car need oil to top up the level .
i suggest take the car to a mechanic if you are not sure.
what plug with pins , do you mean the diagnostic port located on dashboard below steering wheel . early X5`s have the port under the hood .

It is right there on "how to" front page two ways to reset it, based on year or your X-product:

There is nothing under the hood to reset service / maintenance light on 4.8is ( under hood OLD cars lol ), you have to use cluster tabs / pins to reset your light i will try to post link how to.

find it here you go:-

BMW insp. reset
- Iginition OFF (POS 0)
- Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (ACCESSORY)
- Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display
- *Note: On vehicles with "High" cluster, you will also see the amount of fuel (in litres) remaining until next service
- Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. until "Reset" or "Re" flashes
- While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 secs.
Note that if the "Reset" or "Re" does not flash, then you have not met the minimum consumption level and cannot reset.

No there isnt!Your OBD2 port is on the left side under steering wheel.Only cars pre-2001 would have it under the hood.
You can do it with Diagnostic equipment and something like Carsoft sw or the way that Sarb is showing here.

If your oil light is on. Change your oil (which I'm assuming you did already) and the light will go away on its own after a few days.
