Replacing microfilter
 

I want to replace the microfilter in my '04 4.4i.

Can I get the microfilter with activated carbon container as a replacement for the regular microfilter, will it fit? I think I have just the regular microfilter right now.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Yes, the dealer sells it. There are two part numbers, for the standard or the activated carbon version. About 50% more for the activated carbon one.

Both types are also available at many Internet vendors.

The part numbers are:

64-31-8-409-043 MICROFILTER
64-31-8-409-044 MICROFILTER/ACTIVATED CHARCOAL

Is this activated carbon only for V8's my dealer told me only one was available. BTW I have a 3.0i

My 2003 3.0 had both options, same part numbers as posted above.
