Hard Start
 

Hi All - We have gotten our first blast of cold weather here in the Northeast. I park my 05 4.4 (38K) outside and it won't start first thing in the morning. The engine cranks when I turn the key but it won't start up. It takes about 3 or 4 tries before the engine finally turns over & starts. It seems to only happen when the weather is cold and the truck sits all night.

is it a slower crank than normal that would indicate battery issue. acting up in the cold seems to be an indicator. cheap gas? air filter needs cleaning??

The cranking is strong, no indication that its weak or weak battery. I always fill with premium gas (even when prices went thru the roof). I use Techtron Fuel Injection Cleaner every so often and the air filter was changed in February 09.

This seems to be temperature driven as it only happens when its cold outside and the truck sits all nite.

Does anyone know if there's a TSB on this?
