Just checked coolant after thermostate replacement

2 issues:

1, the coolant indicator is just below the kneck of the fill hole, based on the picture I see it looks like it should be above? I guess I am low and they did not top it off properly

2, when I first started the truck today I took the cap off and I can see water squirting out of the small hole just below the fill kneck, it was clear and had no smell, did I get a nice fill of water just before a NY winter? The guy claimed to use BMW coolant and even stated it on my work receipt.

Any input on clear almost smell free coolant?

1) maybe due to air buble during initial fiil up, top it of using distilled water.

2) BMW coolant is blue in color (no other color I am aware of, Audi is red), both phospate free. A gallon is >= $20 so hope the shop uses that, but as as long it's phospate free 50/50 with distilled water, I am not going to loose sleep over it.

It is pretty light colored after it is 50/50 mix... and it *may* look like clear water looking into the dark black opening. try and capture a bit of it into a clear glass and see, but I don't think ANY shop would just dump water in it especially in cold climate weather. Shop owners are not that bad.
