Microphone pre-wire?
Does my 2000 X5 4.4i have a microphone built-in to the center ceiling console (the plastic thing with the homelink & moonroof controls)? There is a little vent looking thing that looks like it could be one. Also this post makes me think that it has one.
I want to try and connect it to the MIC port on my Scosche BlueLife receiver for hands-free cellphone operation if possible. Has anyone accomplished this? I would rather use the factory built-in MIC if it exists then running the included microphone. THANKS GUYS! |

also to my knowledge my vehicle did not come with the wireless cell phone option (CPT7000 module)? How do I check this - I would imagine the MIC prewire may still exist tho? Where does this terminate in the center console or in the rear of the vehicle somewhere!!?

I wish you were getting an answer because I'd like to do the same thing. I want to put in a Pioneer AppRadio 4 and use the built-in mic. I know I have one because the voice activated features work, but I can't figure out how to use my iPhone with it.

You can't reuse the mic. Has to do with it being active vs passive. There was a long thread on e46 about this. I ran a aftermarket mic to the oem spot (on the e46 you can get a blank plate with just a grille) and it worked great.
