E53 driver in Toronto flees scene of accident.

Hope this is not anyone here, or at least not anyones X5.

YouTube - BMW failure.

Happened Oct 22, 2009. Extreme Fitness, Thornhill Ontario (Canada) parking lot.

Looks like a blue X5 (earlier model?) without the panoramic sunroof.

motordavid 10-24-2009 04:25 PM

That was posted a couple days ago...amazing to watch the jerk practicing his
slow, boulder climbing abilities. And then, the azzhole drives off after doing a
mod on that poor guy's hood. Hope they catch the bastard.

Wow, had to watch that twice. :wow:

If that was in a fitness center parking lot, they can probably figure out who the person is --- it's probably a member.

And my wife was complaining about someone who sideswiped her unoccupied, parked car last week --- and drove away without leaving a note. It's mainly paint damage and a little dent on two doors --- quotes are $1,400 though! Actually, that reminds me. Some drivers REALLY do suck --- there are so many dishonest and indecent f***ers out there... :(

sethro 10-24-2009 06:42 PM

From what I can tell from the rims it looks like a 2004-2006 X5 facelifted. Being driven by someone caucasian (really white arm) possibly female. I'm willing to bet that this person is a member of that gym, if the police look through the security tapes they should have no problem finding the owner. But knowing the police they have much more important things to do like drink coffee and play solitaire on there computers.

Its sad to see something like this, only furthers the stereotypes against BMW drivers. This person should have done the right thing instead of running away

faz 10-24-2009 06:58 PM

Wow.

Dking05 10-24-2009 07:12 PM

X5's are not rock climbers! :slap: nice try though....

But seriously.... why run. hope the police get him/her!

Last5oh 10-24-2009 09:16 PM

No news yet if the driver has been identified.

However, a nice scenario would be one of a wife who takes her cheating husband's X5 and rock-climbs it over the mistresses car at a fitness club!

Jorgen 10-25-2009 09:36 AM

If the owner is on the forum, his/her username would be MonsterTruck.

dsm2925 10-26-2009 11:41 AM

thats funny crap......!!!!!!!!

Mr.Black 10-26-2009 03:06 PM

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Monster jam .....

.....use the gas instead of the brake much?
I hope their insurance covers monster truck damage

rayxi 10-26-2009 03:11 PM

And here I am being worried about door dings when I leave my car in a parking lot.

m5james 10-26-2009 04:16 PM

:repost: but I do hope they find this idiot and nail them w/ everything under the sun for driving away. I got sideswipped, guy drove away, but I got in trouble for getting out of the car and yelling at him to pull over since he called the police before I did.

Naz24 10-26-2009 04:19 PM

the X doesnt look that smashed up at all.. what a tank!

UCrewX5 10-26-2009 04:25 PM

Wow, surprisingly little apparent damage to the X5, given the impact to the other 2 vehicles. :wow:

alpac 10-26-2009 07:26 PM

:wow: It looks like he or she (the driver) pressed on the accelerator instead of he brake pedal.

I'm sure the driver knows the difference. It's that he/she WAS TOO BUSY YAPPING ON THE CELL PHONE!

Cole 10-27-2009 02:46 AM

I'd say this could be an extreme case of the notorius transmisson slam... thats exactly the point where mine thumps, just as you slow to a stop and it shifts into first, and if the driver paniced and hit the gas instead of the brake thats exactly the out come I would expect. Still should have stuck around to face the music though!

62? Is that really that "old"?!

I resemble that age, but not the gender.
At our age, me and my geezer buds catch ourselves
ogling the best looking 62+++ yr old lady(s) in our club. ;)

m5james 10-28-2009 08:51 PM

I'm "only" 34, but I made that comment more in regards to my anger for what she did. Age is only a number, I realize that.

Funny enough...I had someone in a 300ZX TT pacing me and a buddy of mine coming back from Vegas like 7yrs ago. The car shot past us, so being in an E39 M5, we simply couldn't have that. After I caught up to the car, it was this awesome lady, EASILY in her 60's, just running the twisties w/ us. After she saw the look of shock in our faces, she gave us the thumbs up and we kept going it. It was the funniest thing ever. I'm the first to give credit where credit is due, but the lady from that video is still a Stupid...OLD...bag. No offense to you though, I promise :)

motordavid 10-28-2009 08:57 PM

I was just poking...there are only a couple of us regular posters here, that are
in our 60s. I'm with the poster that posited the trans slam deal; or, she was
just careless & clueless. The drive-off is simply inexcusable.
BR,mD

Your 60s are the youth of old age...

Last5oh 10-28-2009 09:40 PM

Blah.... "old" is a state of mind. I know people in their 30's (chronologically) who are really "old"!

I resolve to remain young into my 70's if I'm lucky enough to live that long (considering what I enjoy eating today).

Back on topic: News broadcast added that the driver of the Hyundai (health club employee) recognized the X5 when the driver returned to the health club.

Proof that the guilty really do "return to the scene of the crime"?

m5james 10-29-2009 01:29 AM

The news broadcast said they he recognized her car from the video, not that she returned.

"Jamison and police had few leads. The surveillance camera at the lot on Yonge Street in Thornhill failed to pick up the licence plate or clearly show the driver or passengers. But Jamison recognized the truck, said Orlovski."

I take that as he recognized if from seeing it around before. If she was stupid enough to return, then the damage would be obviously and they wouldn't have had to hunt her down.

sethro 10-29-2009 09:58 AM

She did return to the scene of the crime, she was probably a member of the gym.

"Jamison said when he saw a dark blue BMW X5 at Extreme Fitness on Wednesday morning, he called police."

This a quote from a link I posted. That's OLD news. The news broadcast I was referring to was from a T.V. reporter who was at the scene. Thats CP24 cable 24 in Toronto.

In case you can pick that up in WA, VA or ID. ;)

sethro 10-29-2009 11:27 AM

I can't believe that she came back, this lady should get the stupidest criminal award

Yeah, but per the news article they kept saying Wednesday, yet the 22nd is a Thursday...unless you Canadian's can't read a calendar, ehh :nanana: Now if it happened on the 22nd and it got the 590,000+ hits by the following Wednesday, that would make more sense...but they didn't say that in the article.

Either way, I'm glad her ass is getting busted. I'm curious to see what she gets charged w/ and the final outcome. I hear a revoked membership and an Easy Chair from The Scooter Store

Oh we can READ calendars as well as news articles quite well thank you. Here's a larger quote of the SAME article you quoted:

"It sort of sucks," he said. The rogue vehicle backed off Jamison's 2004 Hyundai Elantra and another car, then stopped, paused, backed out of the space and drove slowly out of the lot. The footage, which aired locally on CP24, can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do6pmYfNco0.

York Regional Police had been looking for the hit-and-run driver since the demolition derby Oct. 22.

The damage to Jamison's car was "quite extensive," said York Const. Marina Orlovski and the SUV probably damaged its undercarriage.
Jamison and police had few leads. The surveillance camera at the lot on Yonge Street in Thornhill failed to pick up the licence plate or clearly show the driver or passengers. But Jamison recognized the truck, said Orlovski.
"You certainly don't see that everyday."

Its OK, you probably missed that line.
