Xenon bulb problem
driver side bulb burnt out so I replaced it with a aftermarket D2S. I haven't got a chance to replace the passanger side yet. The new one only comes on about 50% of the time. The other time I have to keep turning my lowbeam switch on and off untill it fires up. Any ideas? Is it because I didnt replace the passenger side at the same time?
The previous bulbs were 8000K, and I replaced the burnt out one with a 6000k... |
Goodluck, been having the same issues because i went from OEM ballasts/bulbs, to aftermarket ballasts/bulbs, back to OEM ballasts/aftermarket 8000k. nobody seems to know whats going on. will be dropping the X at stealer soon guess they can try and figure it out..

for some reason, i've never had luck with aftermarket Xenon bulbs/ballasts. Swap the bulbs left and right. If the problem follows the suspect bulb, you know your answer. Try sticking with OEM bulbs to prevent issues. I assume you have factory installed xenons, and you just changed out the bulbs. |
I have a feeling the previous owner of my X5 took out the HID bulbs (maybe one burned out and he didn't have $ to replace it) and put in stock H7 bulbs.
Reason I think this, the car has projectors for low beam...so is it possible that an HID bulb and a stock 2005 X5 bulb would be interchangeable? Can I put on an HID bulb and all is well? thanks for ur help |
I just installed a set of HID's in my foglights lastnight...no error codes, doesn't flash from the computer checking for the bulb or anything. www.hidextra.com and I used the coupon code "besthid-m" and got them for $60 shipped w/ a 2yr no questions asked warranty...and make sure to ask for the capacitors they offer. That's 1/2 the price twice the warranty of the set I got for my 740 a few years ago :(
