Is it possible to set PDC to not come on automatically when in reverse?

I back my X5 out of my garage every morning and the park distance sensors, both front and rear, beep the entire time. I have to manually turn them off every day. Is it possible to program so they don't come on every time I put the X in reverse? I would like it so they only activate when I turn them on with the button.

I remember looking into this with a GT1. there is an option for PDC on/off, but I don't think it's for automatically coming on, like climate control.

Is it that much of a hassle to hit the button before you back up? Surely you need it sometimes..

Didn't need it in my lifted F350, surely I don't need it in my X. I pull into my garage 3-4 times a day and have yet to hit my bike that's maybe 4" from my bumper. It's annoying that it comes on by default, but I'm sure some people NEED it.

I like having the option to turn it on but would prefer if it isn't automatic.

I find it practical to have the PDC come on with reverse but whats really annoying are the front sensors that continously beep even when there are no obstructions!I just hit the button to turn them off.

My friends 750 had the same problem, ends up a sensor had failed up front.

Thanks for the quick reply.Come to think of it,I do have a spare sensor!Hehehee!

I have to find the time to remove all sensors and check the back and just clean them properly!I am getting the problem about 70% of the time...not always!
Someone mentioned before that the sensors sometimes pick up the number plate surround!Hard to believe ..but????

Yeah, you do have those huge plates in Europe, but I though BMW spaced the sensors out purposely for that reason.

black02m5 -

If it beeps solid, that means you have a fault in your PDC system.
Try unplugging/cleaning and reseating. Hopefully it's just a contact issue.

Otherwise, instead of chasing the ball, the dealer can scan and tell you which sensor is bad. Not sure if the diag fee is worth it.
