Damaged tire
Hey guys,
I got a flat tire over the weekend (front passenger side) when I hit a rock at 70km/h on a dirt road heading to my hunting cabin and it caused a 1" gash on the side of the tire. I'm pretty sure you cannot repair this tire so my question is, can I simply replace the tire or do I need to replace both fronts or all four? I have three summers on these tires (~24,000 kms (~15,000 miles) on them) Since it's an AWD vehicle, I have heard differing opinions so I thought I'd ask here. Also, in jacking the vehicle with the factory jack, it actually bent while going up and made things difficult to put the spare on... a bit surprised how flimsy the jack is. DF |
Minimally you need to replace both front tires with the same brand/model.

for your summer tires i would say this is not as critical. just throw your winter set on for now and get that one replaced at your next opportunity.

The question is, if I buy just one, that tire will turn slightly slower than the other front and so I wonder still if that's an issue. DF |
Hey, do you have any info on that supplier? Im In Toronto. Thanks

do you have toyo proxes s/t? i had a similar issue recently where i got a flat. i called toyo and they gave me a credit for my 3 good tires and i just had to buy the 4th one (they give credits since the proxes s/t are discontinued.) so basically i got a new set of S/T IIs all for about $500 installed. the credit depends on how much tread you have left on the other tires. also about the factory jack..it is pretty flimsy. my car FELL off the jack when i was replacing the flat :( |
I have two used 275/40/20 front toyo S/T with 85% thread left on them ,let me know if you still need ......
