Slight vibration at higher speeds when braking - rotors and pads are new
 

Ok so I have a slight shutter at around 65-75 mph on my 05 4.4 w/ 59kmiles. I just put new brakes, rotors and pads and replaced the thrust rod bushings. I'm assuming my lower control arms are what's causing the problems. Need to go put it on a rack to see if there is any play in the ball joints.

Anybody else experience vibration in braking due to bad lower control arms?

Ball joints or thrust arm bushings...its one of those most likely.

I'm experiencing the same thing! All new rotors and pads from Morristown BMW!

Sometimes it's the road condition.
did you try it on different roads?
Cause some pavement seem to have some ripple pattern that under normal rolling will be undetectable, but when the tires develp breaking forces, the pattern causes some vibration... I know a road that does it and another that doesn't ... just a thought...

How new are the pads and rotors? Perhaps it is just some uneven pad deposits on the rotors as they wear in? I have had this from some track time w/the M3, but not normal highway use so it is a long shot (unless you got the brakes nice and hot and then parked the X while they were hot...).

I have a simular problem except mine is not just a slight shutter. It is quite noticable and feels like it might not stop. Only does it when i brake suddenly or at a higher rate of speed. Brake light is on says check brake linnings. We had an oil leak that leaked on the pads on the driver side wheel. Have not changed pads or anything else. Any ideas?

How about frozen snow in your rims?
clean the rims of ice and snow derbies and you'll be just fine.
also,about the braking,I had to realign when it happened,it was my older e36 ,it was ok with low profiles and it was aligned with them on and when I switched to the winter steels I started to get shudder upon braking...
realignment solved the problem.

Nels It could be your ball joint too.. But with the brake light warning on, I'd certainly check your rotors and pads, make sure your rotors aren't warped...

theses OEM rotors are no good. replace them again, and torque everything to spec.

Try getting your wheels balanced. I remember when some weights fell off one of my wheels and I noticed shaking. i could see where the weight fell off and got them all balanced again and no problems. Another thing could be a bent wheel. Go to a tire shop and get them checked out. GL
