Pioneer AVIC-D3 Navigation Install

1 Attachment(s)
I have the navigation unit just sitting in my dash. I have trimmed the factory mount quite a bit in order to have the nav unit sitting there. Now I need to know where and how to mount this item so that it will not slide out when I accelerate or brake. Any thoughts advice would be awesome. Thanks for helping me in advance. Brad

Why don't you buy the trim ring that's been mentioned on installs like yours?

I never used a trim ring :-) I just had a cover plate and it was good enough :-) Never moved :-) But i cut my button part not so much on the original bracket.

Not saying to get this kit as it is waaay overpriced, but just to show the type of install kits out there. I would probably simply find a way to get some screws into the mounting holes and put a good bezel around it.

I have plans on doing a double din NAV as well. I have several photos that I have come across. Here is one that looks like it might be simple. Anybody know where you can source the vinyl material being used in the pic?

I want to get a smooth surround for when I eventually remove all the trim in the X and paint it brushed aluminum like I did in the 7...I'm bored of the dark wood. I do like how recessed that is, but it's probably still too tight to put my Treo there. The only thing I'm still worried about is the viewing angle w/ my height and how far I sit back causing glare or ruining the brightness of the screen since you're not looking directly at it.
