Anyone else been flashed???
No, not that kind of flashed. Within an hour, I was flashed by 3 cars. A mercedes, pickup truck and a toyota all flashed me. I didn't have my highbeams on. So I flashed them back to show them I didn't have it on. First time I've been flashed since getting the X5 back in May. Anyone else??

No, never. Maybe the auto-level for your xenon lights isn't working?
|
Yes sometimes on really dark streets.
|
Me neither. I agreee with raxi. Check to see if your xenon lights level themselves right after you turn your headlights on. You should be able see a movement within 3 seconds after you turn them on. Try that maybe?

i get that sometimes. people not used to xenons

smg harness pics
Eugene,
Please email pics of the SMG wire harness ...especially the connectors. I have my SMG wheel and will install it this weekend. There is a BMW junk yard a few miles away from and I am going to get some misc. wire connectors to put the harness together. e-mail is [email protected] Thanks Philip Quote:

I get it a lot, especially on back roads...I can kinda understand why when I run into someone running the xenons back at me. I also run my fogs so I think all that may somewhat piss people off. My autolevel feature works just fine...simple fact is, these lights are very bright, almost to the point of blinding oncoming traffic.

;) I just Flash other Bimmers!
|
It happens to me all the time, Drex is right, I guess people aren't used to xenons. Also when I'm behind a sedan, I can tell my lights are right in their rear view mirror. Sometimes people would let me pass and try to flash as well without success.
|
Around my neighborhood I get flashed all the time, unfortunately including the other type of flashing
|
Maybe they were trying to warn you about a speed trap ahead. The more considerate drivers around here do that all the time.

Yeah, I get flashed a little bit too. Mostly it is older folks in Caddies and Lincolns. These Xenons ARE very bright!! Driving a car around as a daily beater makes me realize how bright these headlights are.
I usually flash folks back just to let them know I'm not a dummy, my high beams are not on... |
I recently saw an article in Consumers Report that rated OE Xenons and Halogens. They ranked BMW Xenons low because of their tendency to flash oncoming drivers.
I didn't see anything in the article that even touched on the high points of BMW Xenon including light output, pattern, bi-Xenon, self-leveling ability or adaptive system. Just that one comment which they said resulted in the low rating. Very CR... |
Interesting point! on a different note.. i hate when i turn my fog lights but since they are not xenons they look different colors from my headlights. I dont like it much!! Can i change my regular fog lights for Xenon fog lights? and how much? i have the little round ones on a 2002 4.4.. thanks

I thought my headlights were fine until one night when my wife and I switched cars. She was following me on the highway and the X5's lights were straight into my rear view mirrors! And yes it looks as though the high beams were on but it was just the low beam. Took it into the dealer to get them adjusted the next day...
P.S. I usually flash oncoming traffic if I see a cop hiding in the dark ! ;) |
