Battery??

What CCA(Cold Cranking Amps) should a battery in my X5 be?? The guy that I bought it from has a DieHard with 500 CCA's, is this enough??:dunno:

From fading memory, I think the '01 V8s came with an 850 CCA rated battery...
even my '01 3.0 IL 6 had/has a 760 CCA batt. Whether or not that 500 CCA
batt will get you through a Battle Creek Winter, is of question.

Batteries Plus, AutoZone, Sears, et al, have batts for your car. Easy DIY.

The correct AMP is 720 A/720 CCA

I think the '01 V8s came through with 850s, then downsized a bit to that 720,
except for some of the 4.6s. I typo'd on that "760" I have: the orig was 720,
as is my replacement...NEway, if the OP's batt is a replacement, (good bet),
he is still working on several years on that replacement. Imo, I would cop a new
720 CCA batt for that fun western MI winter.

I would have to consult my Magic 8 Ball...
Seriously, none of us know; I got 6 out of my oe batt, and it tested
pretty well, after pulling it out. I would suspect 8 years is really pushing
the batt. Why not replace it in your garage, or installer, on your time
vs having it fail next week or, in Jan. at some guaranteed inopportune time.

You are wise beyond your years O Great One! I was thinking the same thing. I just keep forgetting about it... I will get a battery this weekend, if my old one lasts that long:dunno:

Don't forget guys, the CCA rating is only one of the things to look at when it comes to the proper battery on vehicles with this much electronics. Look at the pic from mrbmwx5 and look at the AH rating and RC rating as well. You need a battery that will match these ratings as well as your CCA to work properly in there.

This is also the same as the one my 3.0D...(90AH...720AMP)and usually Diesel cars always have a higher rated battery.
