1. Sorry mate. I wasn't been clear before. The lower dyno chart is with factory exhaust with tunit Box (some of us call it chipping). The higher dyno chart reading is still with same Box (adjusted to higher setting which is 9) with custom exhaust. I dont have a ECU flash if that is what u r asking, just a box.

2. Yes the HP shown on the graph is hp at the wheel. Flywheel (BHP) would be higher.

3.Ask them again regarding if they have a dyno chart showing power at certain rpm but they don't have it:confused: I think the dyno machine they have probably cant link up with OBD or something. Who knows....

I had a chat with the guys at Evolve too. They don't recommend that I do a re-flash when i have already got a tunit chip. They say that it is risky and could do damage to car if not done right. They said that they believe that they ecu flash will be the more effective way of improving performance so it would be a better alternative compare to tunit box.

Maybe this tunit box is not the best option:(. Didn;t consider that much when i got it installed 3 years ago.

I know Tunit boxes very well and their digital boxes are quite good.
Looking at your power figures, they are very good improvement.I would just leave as it is,since you have good gains there and you have the Tunit installed for over 3 years and no problems.Looks like you have a good thing there.
Not worth it ,you removing the Tunit, for a remap for the sake of a bit more performance.

Yea, quite true. Thx for advise. It is a 5 year old car anyway. Might spend the money on the 2009 E90 330d. Boy it is already very fast the way the 330d is going. Cant wait to get it tuned.

I am still a bit suprise that I cant really fell the extra 30 hp that im getting. Should have really did a quick 0-100 time. I should find someone with the same setup and drag with them.:D

I will really try and post a video this week for u all. I think i m quite impress with the sound as this is a diesel engine.

Interesting post vsx. Been thinking about doing chips/remaps/exhaust with my 3.0d but it's a minefield. Thanks for the info...hope it goes well

If u can, u should try and look into the remap. I think u might be able to get more out of remaps since our engine was detune (assuming urs is 150kw). DPChip/Tunit boxes can not adjust as much parameter as a remap so definitely has it limitation. With my current setup, my power is really limited as the ECU limits the maximum power at 150kw so regarding how much i turn up the Tunit box, the ECU setting is already lower to start with. And, Im pretty sure that the 150kw has the same setup as the 160kw engine so u should be very safe to use the remap setting for 160kw ur car.

Something i might advise too, i have been going backward and forward with evolve UK the last few days and from what i have gathered, exhaust really does not give u very noticable improvement from their experiences. I paid Au$2380 for my exhaust including installation, dyno run, and chip re-tune. Which isn't too actually not too bad considering a custom exhaust from Taipan Xp Gold Coast will cost me over $2700 without dyno tuning. But, I think u can probably save that money and spend it on a good remap if u dont want spend that much.

BTW, im getting some drooning noise in the back of the car around 2000-2500rpm which is roughly 110-120km/hr at 6th gear. Just found that out when i went down the coast crusing at that speed. It a bit annoying after awile. I guees i better put in a muffler or a resonator at the rear coz there is currently nothing there at this stage.

Good luck black dog. Share ur experiences with us when u pull the trigger.

Cheers

As well as the extra 30 hp ,you should notice the more torque as well! You know, sometimes power tests can be "manipulated" by the operator!
Personally,I feel that the gains recorded on the test maybe be overstated and way too much for just an exhaust system...:dunno:
I noticed that you said they set the tunit to 9 when they tested it with custom exhaust!I would like to know what HP/Nms figures you would have got on this setting but without the exhaust or tested with custom exhaust but on setting 6-7!This would have been a fairer comparision!
You say its smokes on setting 9 and you have put it back to 6-7!Do you notice the power difference?

It may be a Diesel engine ,,but its a very smooth and makes a lovely sound!I think it growls like a V8:p:

Yes. that is exactly what i said to the workshop today. I think they r trying to make it look like exhaust does a lot. I guess with exhaust on, it is more safer to turn the settings up to 8-9 so it is really hard to put a figure on how much the exhaust does cpz the exhaust gives u the flexibility to turn the chip settings up safely. Plus they also adjusted the actual setting on the tunit module so there were too many parameter that had could have affected the outcome.

Cant tell much of difference with chip at 7 compared to 9. At setting 5, which is the original setting that i have been running for a few years, the car seems to accelerate kinda in the same manner. I did try it on 0 today which is OEM output. It is quite obvious that the car does pull slower:rolleyes:. I need to get something that i can plug my laptop or iphone in OBD to get a proper figure. Dont really want to jump to conclusions yet. I will try and drive my friend car which is still all OEM. Maybe that will convince me that my setup is more powerful.

My car does not sound as crazy as the youtube video. I saw that too b4 and it sounds mad.

You can feel the difference in a 'superchipped' 3.0d trust me......
