a RAV, et al, in mpg: your X weighs nearly 5,000 lbs and has a V8; the RAV weighs 3300 lbs and has a 4 or V6. GL,mD |

I have a Rav 4 V6 and it does better than my old X5 4.4 in the city but on the highway the X5 was close. My current E61 does much better city or highway. On a recent highway trip I average 25 MPG at a average speed of 74. The E53 seemed better on gas than the current X5 & X6. I really like my E61 it is very fast and gets much better MPG. |
AVG. 18 on highway.

17.4 total here in boston
its cold... i was getting like 17.8 when it was about 45 degree it has been like 20-35 degrees... tomorrow morning should be at 0 average speed by the car's numbers is 37.5mph |
15.0 on my 2006 4.4 w sport package. This is what i am getting through mixed highway/driving. I didnt expect it to get the mileage of a diesel but it seems to be several MPG less than other folks are getting though it has been averaging about 30 degrees here.
Anyone else seeing about the same in their 4.4 ? |
On my 2003 Auto 3.0- 6 cylinder,I am getting 30 mpg around town and 35 mpg on the highway.....
Sorry forgot to say its a Diesel:):) |
average 13.7 on 04 4.8
|
3.0 D about 30-33 MPg combined. Its ok for you boys and girls over the pond who pay peanuts for fuel. i think i pay per litre what you pay per gallon:(:(:(
Cheers |
We're usually somewhere between 17 and 18 as an average. Most often it's driven by my wife to work and she has about a 4 mile city-like commute. Not the best for MPG.
Funny the thread comes up as I just did a "test-run" on a 150 mile round-trip run to Shawnee Mt in PA yesterday an we averaged 19.7mpg. This was with most of the miles on the "hills" of RT80 West out of Jersey, mixed with the around town driving while in PA, with the wind blowing crazy and our Thule roof racks on...slowing us down all the while. I would consider consider close to 20MPG for this drive a win. PS we're in a 2006 3.0 and love it to death. |
I've been getting about 15.2 average now mixed highway/city. That is down from the consistent 16.1 that I was getting before I had my mass airflow meter replaced and some work done on the vacuum system. I usually drive around 85 mph on the highway so I know that has something to do with the relatively lower numbers. Anyone know if replacing mass airflow meter have an affect on the fuel consumption... possibly was running too lean before?
