So here the thing i left it like that, and the covers i never put back on. i am worried that there will be condensation in the headlamp what should i do? Tom Suggested to Drill a hole in the back and slide the wire through it secure the wires and than plug the back of the cap with silicone. Can i leave it like this or defiantly do what he advised?

TheGodfather 12-18-2009 03:11 PM

Definitely do what was advised.

Your headlights would be screwed in a very short time if you left it open.

Yii 12-18-2009 09:11 PM

Yea i am gonna get a drill tomarrow, should be good since humidity is low during winter so i can get away with that right? lol well i gotta get this done, but i got a new thing, how do i level the headlights?

jst2878 12-18-2009 09:14 PM

Tom is no motha truckin fool. He is the best at electronics. See you in June tom

It's not just the humidity, dust, grime and water will make it's way inside. You don't want a dusty lense, do you? Can you even break open the headlamp of an '04+ to clean the inside of the lense?

Yii 12-18-2009 10:02 PM

i like my lenses to be dust, grime, and water free! lol i am gonna work on that cap tomarrow ASAP!

m5james 12-18-2009 10:09 PM

I used a 1" paddle bit for the installation of my HID foglights in my X, and both the lowbeam and foglights in my 7. Search for my HID install post.

Yii 12-18-2009 10:32 PM

o0o0o nice! i saw your post on your FOGS and i am thinking of doing that next, and the 1inch paddle sounds good, i was about to ask how big should the hole be but you beat me to it! lol btw i wana level my headlamp where is the nut to do that?

sethro 12-18-2009 11:00 PM

Not to sound like a noob or anything, but that looks like a facelifted E53 which I always thought came stock with HID's

Did you install auto levels as well or did you originally have halogens?

SilverBullet 12-18-2009 11:03 PM

Looks good, but don't leave it open and allow condensation. It might mess up the bulbs.

Yii 12-18-2009 11:22 PM

I had Halogen H7 and i dun think its auto level. And yea its a 05 but i dunno if its like you said either.

Is this adjusted right? the driver side i cant seem to move up or down so i dunno if its buster or not but the passenger side and i dunno if this is suitable. What does proper levling look like?

TheGodfather 12-19-2009 06:46 AM

I think you need to park on a level surface and have the headlight beam on a light wall (ideally)

ie. park on your driveway facing your garage door.

Once you do this you should be able to judge for your self what level the lights are at, and adjust accordingly.

If you are still unsure, snap a picture of your lights shining on a wall when the vehicle is level.
I am sure someone here will be able to guide you then.

Also be sure to check your manual, there has to be a OE spec page regarding leveling.

Well i did as Tom told me to do, and m5james did on his Fogs, i drilled a 1inch diameter hole and pulled the sealant through! and yea i will have to fiddle around with the leveling =/ My headlamps are UBER CLEAN! as u can see:thumbup:
