Brakes for x5 3.0? OEM OR YELLOW/RED STUFF?

I know this has been discussed but i cannot find a definitive thread on whether i should go OEM (230$ for the set from BMW) or do the EBC brake pads?

Also, my sensor went off, do i need both or just buy one sensor. whats the cheapest place to buy them (besides ECS tuning)

I went with Hawk LTS pads on my X5 and am very pleased; far less dust than OEM, better stopping and very quiet. I bought my sensor, pads and rotors at TireRack.

If only one of the sensors went off, then you can just replace the one. I don't think you can tell until you get the pads out, so you might need to buy two just in case.

I used Hawk pads on my Honda for years and was very pleased with how they performed. I havent had to do the brakes yet on my X5 but will consider them when its time for pads.

I am stuck in trying to figure out should i replace pads and rotors or shave them down....reason is the front breaks were changed around 131K and i have 144K so its not to late but i had sever shaking due to and aftermarket front suspension i bough off ebay the fake german brand ...any how their rubber is way to soft for X5 its just too soft...bough oem bushings and pressed them into the oem arms and all is well however the shaking has warped my rotors. when braking at 70-80 feel sever shaking in the peddle and once you let go it stops the hotter the get the worse it becomes so I have been lookin at the kits from ECS tuning and wanted to know if anyone has put them and how are they now?

I need to do the rear brakes on mine as well. I was looking at putting on Akebono pads with Brembo rotors. ECS tuning has the best price I could find for this combo. I have never had a Brembo rotor go bad on me yet and I have been using them for years. I always replace stock rotors with new ones.
I did find these rotors www.brakeperformance.com but I can't find any reviews on them. I was also looking at the plain EBC rotors but it is the same cost as the brembo. I think I will just get the ECS kit and be done with it.

bump, anyone else have their two cents. Are the ECS kits worth it?

EBC redstuff front, EBC yellowstuff rear since about one year now. I am driving them with stock rotors which sometimes turn blue when I do heavy mountain downhill driving. But I am happy with that combo.

Try Pagid reds (Pagid makes the OEM pads)
