Battery dead? Or not?
I have done some significant searching on here but no answers for this. 2001 4.4i parked in garage for a week unused. Get back and start it up and it is a little slow cranking over but starts right up. Drive it for two days and then try to start this morning and it won't crank at all. Give it a boost and it fires right up after a short time. drive it to work and it is starting like there is no issues at all. Did a few short trips and all seems fine. I did notice yesterday that the battery light flickered briefly just before I turned it off. What does the board think? Change the battery? BTW I am not sure how long the battery has been in the car and like I said, it cranks over strong now???? I have had this happen in the past with an Audi and an Infiniti I owned after leaving for a week or two, but I just replaced the batteries.

The fact that it starts right up after running it suggests the alternator is working.
Could be the battery, a cable, a connection, or the starter motor. Hard to say without knowing if the battery holds a load, and what sort of load the starter motor is drawing. If you just want to start replacing things, put a battery in it. if you want to determine the cause of the problem, you need the proper equipment, or a shop with the equipment. |
