OEM Heated Seat Swap

Hi Guys,

I have searched the subject of retrofitting heated seats, but everything is about installing kits.

My question is the following:

Can I take a set of BMW OEM heated seats and fit them into my X5 that currently has no heated seats, and make it work?
Of course I know I would need the switches, and some wiring, but it seems like there is not much too it?

Am I missing something big here? Is there an issue with making it work with the car's wiring harness?

I am thinking about buying a set of heated seats from a wrecked X5, or finding a member who would trade + cash my beige non-heated sport seats for any set of heated seats.
Just trying to figure out if the swap is feasible or not.

Thanks!!

I think that the car is already pre-wired and no harnesses are really needed, you just have to put in the switches...I saw it on one of the posts awhile back.

That would be ideal. Can anyone confirm this?

Scratch that...you would have to do some wiring...but the I think the buttons would not have to be...:(

so if i bought the $300 harness kit and got a hold of oem heated seats - this is possible.

I am looking for a 100% OEM solution....

anyone have a P/N of that harness kit?

Wiring is already present. Just replace the SZM and seats

Are you doing the front seats and the rear seats or just the front seats? I want to do the same as you but to the rear seats.

:iagree:with killcrap, a quick check of the fuse box will confirm this with either the fuse in place or wiring going to the fuse.
