HID Fog problem

After I wired everything up the....

DDM Digital HID's turned on.

Relay from the wiring harness started buzzing. I replaced the relay and buzzing stopped for the time being.

Check fog lamps still comes up on the display.

Did I go wrong somewhere?

Did your HID kit have built in resistors? If not you're going to get that dash light code for your fog light..

isn't that what the cancellors are used for?

"Some cars will generate a bulb out warning message or even turn the headlight/foglights off when connecting HID to them. Our cancellation modules fool the computer in the car and allow the HIDs to work flawlessly."

Yes, that's what its for.

I installed a DDM Tuning slimline-ballast HID kit for my fogs. I have a post-facelift X. Initially, they would not fire correctly w/o the extra error-cancelling harness - the fogs would just blink then stop.

After installing them, everything was fine. I got the error message prior because they were not lighting up at all w/o the error-cancelling harness.

I have no idea if there are resistors, capacitors or what inside them but they helped mine to fire-up properly and no error message on the dash.

Sorry I can't help out on your problem. I'm not good at wiring and electrical stuff. :(

If you still have one factory plug unplugged that is what is causing the check fog light error.

You need a resistor for that side. Contact me if you need one.

You need this... can be found at
Super Bright LEDs - Store
RL-650 Light Load Resistor kit
6 Ohm, 50 Watt load resistor kit

Hey Tom wasssuup!

Is the reason some HID kits, even with the error-cancelling harness/module, need to have resistors added is just because they're different in some ways?

What I mean is, is it because some are made BETTER than others? Some kits just have better error-cancelling modules/harnesses?

DDM offers different kits but the one I have from them doesn't give me any errors while Fooses's does.

mrbmwx5 01-15-2010 04:44 PM

Yup..All the aftermarket HID kit are not made the same ( Some better , some doesn't)
He may have bad/defected error-cancelling modules or weak resistors
Joe... call me i explain it to you....

thanks. I guess that solves my check light error problem.

But now the 12v relay from the wiring harness is starting to constantly click again. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Might need a resistor in line with the harness. < doubtful though

You sure the ground is properly hooked up?
