Good Morning!
Please help! The X5 is blocking the other car in the driveway, we can't get out. :( I've seen this situation mentioned before, I hope someone is arround on this Sunday to help. My wife went to open the X5 this morning and her remote key would not work. She said she had dropped it (about 2 feet). Trying my key would not work either, and trying the key in the door did not work. I replaced the door carrier about a month ago, so maybe it is not back together properly - I don't remember if I tested the key opening the door manualy after I replaced it. The battery has at least some power, as I can see the alarm light flashing. The battery was new in November 2009. The X5 was last used last night, everything worked fine. Drove it for about an hour total - 30min each way with 1 1/2hr in between. Alarm was set with remote key when shutdown. Temperature last night was about -10c about 14f. I've searched the threads here and seen the 'wooden wedge' solution, but it has also been mentioned that this will not work if the alarm is set. I've also seen veiled references to another way to get in (Weasel, are you arround on Sundays? :) Can someone with any info please PM me with suggestions? Thanks for the time and help, I've tried to give all the pertinant info. If I forgot something please let me know. All the best, Brian 2001 3.0 X5 manual transmission. Montreal, Canada |
Hang tight...there are a couple posters and an Admin here that know some
tricks. I don't, but someone should give you a tip, probably by PM or email, that can get you in. Good Luck, mD |
Hi David,
Thanks for the words of encouragment :) UPDATE: Ok, so this is a little wierd, I'm wondering your opinions. I just tried the remote key and it worked! Got in and she started right up, no problem. (After moving the cars arround... ) turned it off. Both keys now work with remote. The keys will not unlock, but will lock when put in the keyhole in the door. So I'm wondering if the alarm has some kind of delay against tampering? Is it possable that when my wife dropped her key the alarm thought someone was breaking in and disabled everything for a certain amount of time? Any input as always is appreciated! Oh, and I'd still appreciate a PM if there is a way to get in without breaking a window - thanks! Brian |
Hi Everyone,
So I guess no one else has had this happen? Yay! I'm the first :) I've been taking the X5 to the office since my wife is afraid to drive it and get stuck at the grocery store or something. If anybody has any ideas please let me know! Thanks, Brian |
