oil level sensor
The "check engine oil light" has been coming on in my x5 3.0 though the level is full. I purchased a new sensor and just replaced it when I changed the oil. However, the warning message continues. any idea on what this could be? Does the warning need to be cleared somehow from a computer?
The job was easy. Removing the splash plate was the hardest part. Rich 113m on a 2003 X5 3.0 |
Is it the "oil can" light? this reports low oil pressure as opposed to low oil level!

oil level. It dings and turns on after the car is turned off.

Ok - less serious then. If the sensor is new then must be a problem with the wiring or it's input to the CU - I'm not familiar with the location or connectors for the CU though.

i was wondering where it wired into the CU. The harness at the sensor end looked good.

a coding error in the Lamp Module causes this complaint.

please share more. I have had 735 and still have a 535 which had a module called a LKM. is this it? How would one fix it? In those, all it took was some solder to repair faulty solder points. One of those great free fixes we find on these boards.
