Changed the MAF and still having slipping/rough accleration. Could it be a worn torque convertor? Solenoids? Valve body?

I remember reading something about replacing a single wiring harnes that is inside the transmission that caused odd issues. Search around on Bimmerforums under the E39 5 and E38 7 threads, and maybe even www.e38.org as a lot of this stuff carries between these models since it's the same transmission. That should help widen your search results.

Well I never had this issue until I had my transmission rebuilt and it turned out to be the torque converter. Heres my story.

1. 77k miles original torque converter fails with whining transmission noise, results in transmission being rebuilt and converter rebuilt.

2. 86k miles rebuilt converter starts failing. Drop in gas mileage followed by whining noise. Converter rebuilt under warranty by a different rebuilder.

3. 2 weeks later getting that jerky thing right before a shift and overall power seems down. Giving more gas made the jerky trans go away and didn't notice in manual mode, but still down on power.

4. Just got the X back today after having the converter rebuilt yet again. Guess what? No jerky tranny and power is back. The converter rebuilder says he didn't see any issue with the converter. Well something was wrong.

I also think the Dinan trans software may be part of the issue. Seemed my converter went within a few months after having it installed.
