Originally I was considering replacing either the X5 or the S4, but I far prefer driving the S4 as my daily driver and decided I want to keep it. So already was ignoring that post :D

nice M roadster!! I love the color combo and especially the Imola interior. I was considering getting a Z4 M coupe as my daily driver instead of the Audi, but in the end decided with the driving I do and the stuff I so often carry that the S4 suits my needs a lot better. Neat cars tho!!

My personal preference would be to keep the 4.6iS, (eventual toy towing machine), but do what makes you happy. :)

No problem pointing me out. Is just the matter of different opinion and looking at things from a different perspective. People sell cars and later realize they've sold the wrong car. It happens all the time. The OP bought the Audi years later than the X5 4.6is, so it's normal for wanting to keep the S4 a bit longer. The S4 is somewhat similar to let's say, an M3. They're both compact, sporty and are actually direct competitors. It would be a shame to sell the X5 4.6is. I would love to upgrade mine for it.

True that the S4 and M3 are competitors and somewhat comparable cars.

I have actually owned the S4 longer than the X5 - I bought both used. I have had the S4 about 2.5 years and the X5 less than a year.

Good input. I have been toying with the idea of an E30 for a long time, maybe this is the time to do something about it. I would really love to have one with a S52 3.2L M3 motor in it or even an LS1 V8  These cars are getting hard to find in good shape. But they are out there.

Yea swap cars are a lot of fun but the S14 is the heart of the M3's heritage. Without it the car loses it's soul. Sure they aren't as fast, or as cheap to make fast, but they have so much character and the handling is superb.

If that's the route you want to take I would say either find one that has already been swapped, or go with a regular e30, because taking apart a nice original car is borderline blasphemy in my mind ;)

I love the E30 M3, might not be as fast etc. but it will outrun most higher hp cars/ on a track.. depending on setup. Looking forward to see your M3. are you on s14.net?

Cheers! to the best touring car EVER built to this date!

Cheers indeed! I am on s14.net, handle is M3Driver. Here is a pic and a couple vids of me enjoying it in summer of '08 when it had a 223rwhp 2.5 s14. The new engine should be about 20rwhp more.

Road America, my brakes were scary at the end of the weekend so these are easy laps hehe

Autocross, not what the car is meant for but had fun nonetheless:

Actual size pictured above. S4 Avant is a great 3/4 scale car. Seriously, your buddies, kids or dogs or whatever would rather be stuck in the backseat of the X5, regardless of the cargo areas being comparable. Great car in small package.

Good point - that is what I want to avoid. Selling off one of these rare and fine machines only to wish later I had sold the other one!! :dunno:

I don't really care how comfy my dog is actually

S4 is basically the same size as the E46 3 series. Shorter wheelbase actually, but similar over-all size.
