Trunk latch opens randomly.. lol

I have a really strange problem with the x5. When my car is at a stop and the doors area all unlocked, the trunk latch will open by itself at random times. Never seen this problem before. Now when i get in my car I have to start the engine and immediately lock my doors to avoid this problem. I'm guessing it can be an electrical issue. The only thing i did recently that involves the electrical system is installing the dice silverline pro. Any help is greatly appreciated

search through the forums and look for some solutions that have been posted, but this is actually a pretty common problem with the X5s during the winter time. most of the time it either has to do with rubbing wires where the trunk latch hinges or water seeping through and getting onto the electrical components of the switch that activate the locks.

Just installed the new trunk lid grip. I noticed that there is a tiny gap between the top of the trunk lid grip and the bottom of the trunk. I'm worried that water may seep through and damage the wiring. Anyone know what i can do or use to seal that gap?

As you can see on the pics there is a tiny gap there which was not there with the old trunk lid grip.

Hmmmmmm, could be true...had this problem starting in the fall last year and continued through winter..stopped Ironically when the cold, wet air was gone the snow. I haven't had this issue since.

I thought it was only my POS car that was doing this. Yet another problem I will have to deal with. My trunk seems to pop when I lock the door and leave. I always worry someone is gonna take the stuff out of my truck when this happens.
