When i turn off the sat nav monitor i get several dark lines appear across the screen (the full width of the screen) any ideas?

That's normal on shut down. They should go away in a few seconds. If they don't then you do have a problem most likely with the display.

? My E46 has the same system and does not have any lines when turning it off? it almost looks like interferance for about 1 second whilst turning it off or on.
