What's next?

I have an '03 X5 3.0i with 76k on the odometer.

So, I had the P0171 and P0174 codes pop up, I cleared them, drove for 20 miles and they came back.

Here are the following fixes, in order... Mind you, these are all new OEM parts.

1. Rubber elbow peice that always cracks (WAS CRACKED) - replaced.
2. Air/Oil Filter and oil - replaced.
1 week later
3. DISA valve - replaced.
1 week later
4. MAF sensor - replaced.
2 days later
5. Both Pre-cat 02 sensors - replaced.

There was a little time lapse between changing these parts out, I of course wouldn't have proceeded past the DISA valve. Between fixes, I would clear the code, but they always came back. I only changed the MAF and 02 sensors because after reading some posts I came to the understanding that the MAF and 02 sensors could have been the faulty parts all along, but to START with the rubber part, then the DISA.

So, today after dropping roughly $200 on new 02 sensors, I have my fingers crossed the whtire test dirve... Once I hit 35 miles, the SES light popped! Same 2 codes.

I went back over my work to double check a tight fit on all intake piping/hoses and all is good to go. There is no lack of HP or anything, but that blasted SES light will make me fail my auto inspection, so I need it to go away lol.

Any suggestions about what I should do - aside from bringing it in?

Thanks in advance.
Josh

Maybe need cats, but if so get ready to shell out the big bucks!! I replaced mine and it cost $2200 bc there is no aftermarket solution for the 3.0i in the X5 - cats are basically part of the manifold, so all of it has to be replaced with OE parts.

Those are lean codes, I'd see if you can get your hands on a smoke tester and check for air leaks in the intake and vacuum lines. You'd be surprised what the naked eye can miss, and since I have the machine and did it before on cars belonging to myself and customers, it'd probably only cost you .5 labor at some shop that has the machine.

After I get the intake fully checked, I'll start looking into this one.
