Another question - seatbelt warning

First off thanks to everyone for the feedback on my CD changer dilemma - now for another question, we noticed the other day that if the passenger seat belt is not used when a person is sitting in the seat, there is no warning light or chime. Is this normal? I would think not, thus the question.

Certainly that is correct in my 2005 E53 - only warning is if the driver's seat is occupied.

depends on the year, if you have the light where the sunroof switch is located for passenger air bag off or on, then there should be a warning check control gong, and a flashing seat belt warning indicator.

My 2006 will chime if passenger is not belted.

Not normal

My 2006 will chime and show the seatbelt warning, too. But, it does not occur immediately upon driving. It's seems to be about 30-45 seconds after the car has been moving.
