Custom Box Enclosure
 

Does anyone have pictures of a custom box exclosure on a X5. I know you can mount subs on the stock location but I'd like to keep that space free. Plus I want bigger subs. Doesn't have to be a clean setup. I'm just trying to get an idea on how I want mine to look. I just want to see a sub box, nothing crazy.

And has anyone tried to do what E36's guy do with BSW setup. If I can setup my subs like this, I'd go this route because I'd like to face the sub towards the front. I might have to go with a smaller sub with this setup. Maybe JL w7 10inch. I have to do measurements first so what we can fit in that space.

If you are only wanting to run a 10", just go with the JL stealth box and call it a day. It goes in the passenger side rear compartment. No loss in cargo space and sounds good for a 10".

What are you needing that space for?

I keep all my cleaning things in there and some tools LOL. Can you feel the bass inside that enclosure?

What are you looking for...SQ or SPL...

I take it SPL...I would do a custom 12, sealed...you would need a custom box that extends out onto your trunk to make it right...and it feel just right.

My system is very balanced, loud and great sound quality. If the song is bass heavy it will vibrate the seats and ear drums. Get the rear view mirror moving as well. I am running a 600 watt amp though. (not turned all the way up)

Personally I would like the ability to get more bass at times then what I have, but not at the cost of space. Overall very happy with its performance.

What are you running again Redline? I'm gonna be doing the fiberglass on my factory box this week http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...stalled-3.html and I'm hoping it'll sounds as good as people have been saying it will sound. I've gotten spoiled using my RE Audio 12 in a huge box w/ like 1200 watts in my 7, and while I realize the factory sub using the L5 that I'm going to install will not be able to touch it, I'm hoping it'll give me what I need w/o taking up any space.

I like the PDX amps because of the size and they sound good. Since I swapped out the head unit, I removed the CD changer in the opposite storage area to make room for both amps.

I can't remember where I found these pics of a custom box. I like this set up as it is only taking up a little bit more space then the hidden sub. This would allow for a nice W6 12" sub.

How do you like your speaker combination? Is it a good match w/ the Pioneer and Boston's, like one doesn't overpower the other being different brands and/or possible different power ratings?

I've seen that box before as well. Seems like a lot of work to relocate the main fusebox and to make an enclosure that doesn't even fully utilize the lower area below the floor like my stock or your JL enclosure.

The dash speakers are some off brand that I got from an online store that sells drivers individually. I was unable to find 2.5 in drivers, so modified some 2" drivers to fit. Its the small amp that is a pioneer amp. The dash speakers sound pretty good. The 9140 allows me to have the dash drivers on or off. The dash drivers just add some front stage sound. I wanted them to work as my center channel speaker when playing movies, the 9140 also has 5.1 capability. They work great for that as well, with clear dialog.
