BMW X5 Self Level Suspension

I think I have a good one here for all of you that know anything about the X5. My X5 is a 2006 4.8 is. Manufacture date is 10/05. I bought this car in Florida and drove it back home (about 800 miles). I then took it on vacation ( 500 miles). From the day I bought it the low tire light would come on and it would reset. It would come on after about 20 miles of highway driving. Always checked the tire pressure everytime and no changes. On my way back from vacation the dreaded " self level suspension inactive" light came on it. It would go out every 50 miles or so and come back on. It did it throughout the 500 mile drive home. When I got home I took it to local mechanic and he noticed wires had been spliced on the right front level sensor. They replaced that. Drove it for a couple of weeks and error light came back on. Local mechanic had it for 2 weeks checking all grounds and proper voltage to everything in system. He finally gave up. Said everytime error light came on it was a completely different error code. I took it to BMW and could not get error light to come on. They pressure tested system and said it was fine. Bring it back when the error is back on. Took it back when that happened informed me that it needed new set of front air shocks. They quoted $3000 for it. By the way I found them from Aronott Industries for $300 a each and $200 in labor each to install. It did need them, car would loose all it's air pressure over night. I got it back and light went off again within 15 miles of driving. I noticed that the back ride height was as high as I had ever seen it. It was like that when I received it back from BMW. Took it back to my mechanic and had him lower the back end, I thought it might be too high, and had the sensors too far past their range. They lowered it and error light was still coming on and all different errors codes again. I have been driving it several days with light on, it did go back off a couple of times, but right back on. It holds its air and drives and rides great. The funny thing to me on this, everytime it goes out low tire pressure light comes on at same time, instantly. I have always had low tire pressure light problems in beginning, error then suspension light was added. The back of trunk area has been checked and no moisture issues at all. Everything looks new and pump was still completely enclosed. Put it on my lift and all wires, selniods, all looked good. Plus all of this was checked by my mechanic as well, these guys have been working BMW for 40 years. Great rep and have always done a proper job. This is a dual axle system and is for sure holding air pressure now. Sometime the error message comes on, the green light on the switch will stay on and sometimes not. It will only blick at best. Somehow the tire pressure system has to be hooked into the ECU 2. I now for sure on this paticular model that it is not setup light like other models. This came from 2 different BMW mechanics. Anybody had this issue before? It is a really driving me nuts. I love my bimmer, this just seems more complicated than it should be. No other problems at all with car. Thanks all for any comments or help.
