Checking coolant

Does anyone know how to open coolant cap?

I tried to open it by turning it anti-clockwise. But it was so tight that I could not open it at all.

I was afraid I might break it by turning it too hard.

Anyone has any ideas. was I doing it correctly?

I am just guessing but I think you have to push down on the cap and then turn. Make sure the engine is not hot because you can get burned.

Do clocks go the same way Down Under? LOL at "anti-clockwise."

I've opened mine and don't remember any tricks.

That V8 cap is shrouded, and offers even less room than the IL 6...
probably put on very tightly by someone, and the coolant crystallization
has "glued" the sumbitch on there...

Try a rag for better grip or, even a slip wrench, as pictured. Don't laugh,
I use my cheapazz one all the time on cars/m'cycles.

Be careful not to twist the coolant res. tank, tubes and unit: they are
all plastic and cheapazz parts.

And, left is loose, as in counterclockwise, as you noted.
