"Mottled look" on black window trim

What should I use to clean up the discoloration on the black trim around the outside windows...(06 3.0 X5 Sport/Prem 'with plenty of power')
It looks like a brownish silverish look...I don't want to try anything that will scratch the finish (annodized?)yet
I LOVE this car, the best BMW yet (after about 15 + of them)
99 528iT, 94 530iT, 87 535is/5, 325's, euro 323's, Bavarias, 3.0 cs's 2002tii's and my first, a 67(?) 1600....

Here is an older link, but I don't think there is any recent "new" fix...
hard water, acid rain, etc., is the culprit. I use Zaino on my '01, and
while the spots do come back to some degree, it has never been a real
problem, cosmetically. Maybe I just got lucky on my trim...
