I might have the same problem too. In my case my left rear passenger side sinks on and off overnight and when I click open my remote door lock, the rear starts to go back to its normal height.

I drive a 2002 E53 3.0d euro..........:dunno:

Fellow Blue Eagle!

Replacing the rear airbags are much easier than the fronts.

Just talked to my BMW stealership, OMG I was told I need to replace the whole rear suspension kit...I am waiting for the breakdown of the estimated cost. Parts and labor are estimated to be USD2,000.00+++

I need a drink...........:banghead:

I would just pay someone. Too bad you're not in SoCal or my buddy could take care of it. Its pretty easy so any inde with some basic know how could do it. They just have to disconnect the air hose and other sensors like ABS and they're good I think.

Rear airbags, I believe, are about $150. Rear airbags are separate from rear shocks.

Please keep us updated. I'm curious what they mean by "replace the whole rear suspension kit". What are the chances the complete rear suspension is bad?

When you're in normal height, did you try measuring if both sides are equal. My front axle had a difference of 2cm, the left side being lower. I recalibrated the height and so far, I'm back to normal. But then again, this might be temporary. I'm still monitoring my ride height.

I got the following quote from the stealership to replace the following parts :

1) air springs ( 2 pcs) @ USD220 - USD 440

2) air suspension module - 185

3) air suspension compressor - 1,000

I checked realoem .com and trying to get correct part no. for the items...

Need a little help to double check...calling weasel,m5james, etc....:D

Those sound about right! Compressor you could probably get it for less from those guys. :D

wow, what causes the air compressor to go out? Thats why at the first sign of the front shocks going out, I replaced them as soon as possible. I didn't want to tax the compressor and risk a failure.
