37 degrees F

Recently about twice a week my X5 has made a dinging noise and then flashed 37 degrees F where my mileage left usually shows. Anyone have any idea what this is representing? Its about 50 out today so I know its not a freeze warning, any help is appreciated. Thanks

Same thing happened to me almost every morning this week. I think it's the X's way of telling you that it's getting cold! :D

It's a warning to beware of frost and ice.

it might be an early warning to watch out for ice on the road--32 deg is just around the corner..

:withstupi If it's reading a free air temp of 37F or below and that means the possibility of icy conditions.

Yup I got it several times recently in the morning when the outside temp was below 37. It is a gentle reminder from your X that temp is going down close to icy condition.

My other cars had the same thing but usually waited until it hit 32, then it would say ICEY or some crap like that. I figured it was a ice/frost warning but why 37 degrees? That's the part that seems F'd up. If you convert 37 F to Centigrade, it comes out to like 2.77777777777 degrees which is much closer to freezing. So my guess then would be that 37 degress comes from the conversion from German thinking to English. :dunno: :D
Did I just confuse anyone else but myself?

hehe, well i think your logic makes sense. Never the less I'm glad its not something serious, but agreed 37% is a funny number to pick

Yep, BMW calibrates their temp warning at 37 degress because they feel that icy conditions could still exist on the road at this temp... it's in the manual.

This morning I was able to use my heated steering wheel. Very nice and toasty  !!
