Why not use the OEM one?

re: OEM wiring harness...is it a direct plug in? Is it available seperately without buying the BMW hitch?
I suppose that the aftermarket one needs to have splices to the car wiring ?
Once again...has anyone used the aftermarket harness?

I ordered my hitch from the dealer who had to outsource it from a dealer in Cali. The hitch comes with the harness. He did tell me though that he could get me the plug and play oem harness by itself for around $195.

Seems to me the best route would be the OEM hitch which includes everything you need, and considering that the wiring activates the trailer stability program I would lean towards the OEM harness as well.

I used the one this guy used, bought it on Ebay for $30 or $40. He even provides a wire color chart. Yes, you have to splice. If that bothers you, I would spend the long dollar and go with the dealer option. Mine works great and I feel pretty good about the $150 I saved.
