Help identifying sounds
 

Hi.


Could someone please try and help me identifying these sounds.?


This is from the right side of the vehicle, im spraying the belt/ac with WD40..

This is on the left side, it sounds like a belt sound, but i replaced the belt about a year ago in the shop, and thought it would last a lot longer then this.?

Could it be a pulley.? If i spray a loooot of WD on the belt, it eventually shuts up...

The second one does sound a bit like the belt slipping. If it is, then the WD40 will just make it worse. You can try putting a bit of green soap on the inside edge of the belt. This can help clean out the grime (and WD40) and allow the belt to grip again.

Sounds like a pretty tight slip which would mean you probably have a pulley that is seizing up. Pretty soon it will completely seize up and snap your belt and leave you stranded somewhere. Either take it to a shop or pull your belt off and find out which pulley or pump needs to be replaced. I would think you if you at least look at the ribs on the belt they probably show some excessive wear right now.

Ok, i suspect the pulley as well, since the belt is quite new.

You are referring to the second sound clip..??

If i decide to replace all the pulleys while at it, does anyone know the part numbers.? There are three of them..?

Also i'll replace the belts..

Are there any other parts i should replace while doing the job.?

Yes, I was referring to the 2nd sound clip. But you should figure out the problem before you replace everything. If you replace all your pulleys and belts but it turns out to be your water pump or fan clutch, then you won't really solve anything and you'll be buying a new set of belts in a month and maybe even more stuff if your fan clutch seizes up and your fan blades blow up and take out ??? in the process.

What kind of sounds should i look for..?

and also, i guess i should take of the fan for easier access.?

You'll have to take the fan shroud off to access the belts and pulleys. Any pulley or pump that has too much resistance is suspect for replacement (you could probably search around the forums to find out what kind of resistance each pump should give you--I know there is a trick to figuring out if the fan clutch is going in one of the threads somewhere). That includes your AC compressor, water pump, power steering pump and alternator.
