Need help with ABS module

Dash lights are on, yellow triangle and red abs and brake light. Symptoms are: After stopping, when letting up on the brake pedal to go, the brakes stay on and are locked until the accelerater is depressed. A grinding noise is heard as x5 tries to go and the brakes are still locked on. Finally, the brakes break loose and the X drives normally. I reset the lights by turning steering wheel back and forth but as soon as the brakes lock up again the lights come back on and I lose ABS control. I know the ABS is not working because I slammed on the brakes at 50 mph the brakes locked up the wheels and I left black skid marks on the street where I had stopped.

After searching the archives I know that the abs wheel sensors can go bad. Right rear senser if dash lights are on and cruise control isn't workng. Left rear sensor if dash lights are on and Speedo isn't working. Both my cruise and speedo are working just fine. What symptoms do the front sensors give when they are failing? I am prepared to send the ABS module in to Module Masters but I just want to make sure that it's not one of the front sensors going bad. Any help here is appreciated.

For whats it's worth. I bought a front ABS wheel sensor and replaced the drivers side front sensor. This solved the problem. The lights went out and the ABS system is working perfectly again. I had actually removed and packed up the ABS module to send it to module masters for a rebuild. Something made me search the archives one more time and found where several members had sent in their modules for repair only to find out that they weren't broken. I wasn't sure which front sensor to replace so I just picked the drivers side and got lucky. Also, I had to replace the ABS wheel sensors on my e39 a few years back and remember that one of the front sensors going bad caused the transmission to go into fail safe mode, stuck in 3rd gear. So i'm assuming that it was the passenger side front sensor. I hope this write up helps someone in the future. Thanks for all your support.

The DSC (stability control) uses the breaks automaticly to asist you when the car comes out of control.
I would look into the mekanic/electric that control this system, becouse it make no sense that the pads clamp your discs when your foot is off the breakpedal.
