Electrical Issue (Not enough power coming in)

I recently had my alternator and battery replaced for the first time in 6 years. I have a 1100W Amp powering a 12 in sub. I have a capacitor rated at 5 farads. The problem i am having is that my amp will shut off while im driving and turn back on randomly. I noticed on the capacitor the volt meter would read like 7.3 volts which is too low. (Should be around 13.8 to 14 with the system low) Is a new alternator have anything to do with that? Anyone know what I should check?

you need to lose the capacitor. Get a optima battery. capacitors suck unless you have a small system that you dont run hard, if you listen to the bass cracked you drain the capacitor faster than it can recharge its kinda a battery itself. Don't get me wrong there are really good capacitors out there but for the cost an optima is the way to go its designed for heavly loads. I did know of some guys in Gastonia NC that made some sick capactiors they would arch off them at shows , probley coulda welded with it! nuts

Figured out the problem, turns out the power wire in the circuit breaker was very loose. Thanks for the input though
