Currently battling SES light for misfires and lean mixture with symptoms of stumbling and poor acceleration. I'll even knock off $500 for the SES light.

Thats one hell of a sales pitch :D jk

Well I figured any forum member would know that poor reliability is to be expected with X5 ownership so no need to pull any punches right?

It has black leather as well. Going to need tires soon, it has the original michelins on it which are dry rotting/cracking a bit.

Prices are all over the map from like $13k up to $20k. You got a great deal, the one I missed due to the storm sold for under $14k. The one in Boston is at a dealer asking $19.9k and its been in an accident :thumbdown

BTW I can't figure out to multi-quote on here...I click it but it doesn't seem to work?

I think the reason why they're hard to find is because those who have purchased them new have tended to hang on to them since they are just such nice vehicles. We special ordered ours and took delivery in 11/01 - she's a 2002 Sport Premium with 98K miles and plan to keep for many more miles since she runs so well. We ordered the sport package mostly for the shadowline trim - didn't want the chrome around the windows.

one word of caution when buying an older model year: check out the underside of the car for rust. if the car was driven a lot in snow/salt it could have a lot of rust on all of the unpainted metal on the underside of the car, including the frame... just make sure to get it checked out thoroughly...

I found my X5 about two years ago, it was sitting in a lot at a local BMW dealership and easily stood out from the rest because of the sport and premium packages, I knew I had to have it. Keep looking for a sport as it's well worth it on those cloverleafs!

03' 45K miles GreyGreen/Black with dark wood trim
Premium/Sport/Cold Weather/Nav Packages
Manual Transmission/AFE Intake/Dinain Throttlebody, Engine Management
Who could ask for more?

:iagree: 2004 was the "facelift" year for the 1st generation X5 (E53). A lot of little improvements/changes. The main one being X-Drive. Also, you're going to have a tough time finding such low mileage (less than 70k) for the 01-03 model years. There might be a handful out there, but the vast majority will have many more miles on them.

3.0 sport and 6 speed ....

Wow, did not know mine is "rare". Got a '06 3.0 with 6 speed manual, sport package, panoramic roof, anthracite headliner. Silver with gray interior and Dakota trim.
