So, I am confused... If the orange battery light stays on, it is not a problem?
|
Surprised so many of your lights stay on. My 2006 (which is kept unlocked most of the time) always turns itself off after a few minutes. Opening any door or pressing any button on the remote will cause it to instantly come back on, but after a few minutes rest it is off again.

2002 X5 4.4I.......Our gear shifter light never goes out. It's on 24/7. I thought that was weird too. Maybe some sort of visual theft deterrent idea?

Mine does go out I have noticed, but I don't know after how long. Even if it didn't go out, I would know It's in sleep mode, as when I unluck the car, leveling starts. |

Searched your posts, can't find the thread you said from BMW on the gearshift light. My 2001 X5 is in the shop now and the Tech their hasn't heard this . . . My light is always on, battery drain issue. it went out momentaritly when he connected the radio. Radio will play when the key has been removed? Normal? Roy |

Here it is: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...y-problem.html My shifter light stayed on for four years. Never had a flat battery, even with extended parking (4 + weeks) many times. |

Recommend you do not start replacing components like the FSR, but rather do a proper test for parasitic draw. It isn't the shift light, and if it was the FSR you would hear the blower fan running after you turned the key off. The radio is supposed to work without the key (it is timed). It is possibly something that you don't even use, like the telephone module. A parasitic draw test is the only way to find it.
