Steering wheel sits skewed after hard bump
So I was up in BC to enjoy the winter Olympics ... dark at night and I hit part of a meridian (about 8" at 10-15mph) trying to get across a street. Still kicking my self for a dump mistake …. :(
Surprisingly, no visual wheel damage however the steering wheel sits pretty skewed (Steering wheel is almost at 2 O’clock position when driving straight). X5 Pulls all over the place when trying to change lanes. I know I have to rebalance the wheels and get a wheel alignment but I am not sure if the wheel alignment will fix the steering wheel skew. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks |
most likely the control arm is bent, if it is bent, you must replace the steering rack also. call your insurance.

I'm curious, why do you need to replace the rack? Is it just precautionary since the bump could have chewed up some teeth?
