I had my key copied and reprogrammed locally here in new york for $100 bucks around the summer time. not sure bout england but im sure if we can do it here in new york, ask around...

Hi, So you didnt go to a main dealer then?

The dealer charged me about $220 for a new key last year. I always thought this was a dealer only part.

Please elaborate, I am interested to find out more.

BMW Dealer charged me $200 dollars for a new key. They programmed it right on the spot free of charge... least they can do for spending that much money on a new key. :cool:

don't feel so bad for $200 for key. VW wants $280!!!!! You can at least program a BMW key yourself, I did when I changed a battery (XOutpost rocks!!!) in mine. You can not program a VW key either. I was amazed that BMW and Merc are 200 to 220 and VW Jetta 280 plus labor:wow:.

I key is something I would go to the stealership for though.
