Just finished oem hitch install, dsc light on
 

I assume that the dsc 4x4 light is on since I just installed the oem hitch and wiring harness and have not yet gone to the dealer to get it coded. This is a 06/05 production 4.4 USA.

Could be. Many of us installed the OEM wiring kit and did not need any recoding. In the past few years, others have posted that they have had the DSC light or other errors, and have needed to have it recoded to resolve. Seems to depend on the software version and combination of options on the vehicle.

Easy check would be to unplug the trailer wiring module under the rear floor and see if that resolves it.

dsc went off after short drive
 

I disconnected the battery to install the new wiring harness and relay and I suspect this caused the dsc light to come on and then go out after a short distance.

Mine did the same thing after install, no problems since.

I get the DSC light anytime I disconnect the battery.
