Help!! How do I remove the business cd wood trim flip door
 

I am trying to install a double din system in my 2006 x5 and have everything installed except the final seating of the head unit. I am have the hardest time trying to figure out how to remove the wood trim flip door that previously covered the business CD. Can someone please tell me how to remove the entire door assembly as I do not plan to use this going forward. Pictures would be ideal if possible but I'll take any help I can get.

Shouldn't be that hard to find a diy on the home page. Search there first, then report back with your results. If your just looking to take the trim off the plastic piece use a heat gun and plastic pry tools.

I have searched everywhere and haven't found anything. I am not looking to just remove the wood trim from the plastic assembly. I am looking to remove the whole assembly. It looks like there are two tabs on both sides of the assembly and that it should just pop out. It looks like it is one piece.

Just want to take this whole thing out...

Any ideas or leads?

My only suggestion is to call the dealership, they should be nice enough to help you out. Be careful, they broke mine (the operation of it not the actual cover) when replacing my radio. They had to fix it and it only took them 15 minutes. I assume since it didn't take long, it should be simple once you know the trick.

I did mine a few months ago.. You will need to remove the CD player (there are write ups on the this). Once out, you should be able to remove the bracket that holds the trim in by pushing on each side (towards the center). Once out, there are 3 push clips holding the trim on, which you can remove with a small flat blade or a dental pick.

Are you talking about the two tabs on the brackets that connect to the frame? If so, I had been pushing them in (away from center) so I'll try this. Once I do this, should the whole assembly come out?

For the next part:

Is this referring to how the wood trim piece connects to the plastic door??

This may be what I needed. Can't wait to try at lunch!

The three round clips hold the trim to the plastic frame. You can use a small socket over them to push them back on.. Good luck

Pushing the two clips on the side of the assembly towards the center then remove the assembly worked like a charm!! I feel like an idiot now since I spent half of Sunday pushing the tabs the other way never thinking to try and pull them towards the center. Thanks so much for your direction.
