Vibration issue
Hi Guys
My 3.0d has just has the lower arm replaced on the drivers side. i have also gone up a size to the facelift 20inch alloys. Since all this i have had a vibration between 45-60. we have a balancer machine at work but i dont believe it is designed for 20inch alloys so i went ahead anyway and rebalanced them but to no avail. still i get the vibration. do u guys have any idea what it could be down to. also since having the lower arm done at bmw the steering wheel is very slightly off centered but the car still drives in a straight line without pulling to the side. thanks guys this issue is really peeing me off |
Your arms should have been replace in a pair not just one. Are they aftermarket wheels or BMW wheels, if they are aftermarket no matter how perfectly balanced they are bmw's do not like aftermarket wheels. They only thing I would suggest is have your other arm done and hub rings.

agree. both arms doneat once. everything in symmetry so you can narrow done on problems and solutions. get your wheels balanced somewhere that has the correct machine. i believe its your wheels that need a good balance then you should be good to go

645i is Wrong...First have them balanced on a proper wheel balancing machine that is capable of balancing 20's properly..this is a no brainer first off. 2nd, BMW is actually quite friendly to many different brands of wheels and all sizes up to 22"...
Get it balanced properly. Then go from there. I suspect once its properly balanced you will have no problems.. |
A few of the replica wheels require hub centric rings. The wheel may be balanced but the hub ring may be missing or not installed. Just a thought.
